Though I think this is a rhetoric question, I still feel adament to
give the answer.
NO! Chess is not just a game, it is beyond the simple term, "game." It's
an event between people. Understand that this means more than just one-on-one,
for example, the recent match 'Kasparov versus the World'. How can Kasparov
versus the world, you ask? Well first ask yourself this question, how can
'the world', as a collective group, play just a "game". So do you now considered chess an
event, I hope you do, but calling chess an event seem to be a very vague and imprecise
description. However the match of chess is an event, but to futher define chess, could
chess not be a SPORT? Let's take a loose interpretation of this term.
